History
The Inaugural meeting of the Barrier Rangers occurred on 28th March 1969 at the YMCA and was attended by 25 people. At this meeting the the club Constitution was put into place.
The Constitution of 1969
- The Club shall pursue the sports of bushwalking, caving, climbing and other related activates.
- It's membership shall be open to all persons who live, or have lived in the Broken Hill District.
- The Club shall not, under any circumstances or at any time be liable for any injury to its members.
- The club shall not be liable for financial debts incurred by its members, nor shall the members be liable for any Club debts.
- Monies raised by the Club shall be used as decided by a majority of the Committee.
- The Committee shall consist of a President, a Secretary/Treasurer and three others.
- The Committee shall be required to meet every two months.
- The Committee shall organise Club activities, and appoint leaders for such activities.
- The Club shall hold a general meeting of members each year:
- To receive reports from officers
- To elect officers
- To decide on membership fees
- To plan annual activities
- An Extra-Ordinary General Meeting may be held if 25% of the members or the Committee requests so. The nature of the meeting to be discussed will be advised in advance.
- The Constitution may not be changed unless a 2/3rd majority is obtained at any General Meeting.
The Mulga Wire
The Mulga Wire newsletter was produced regularly and copies have been stored in the archive section of the local Broken Hill Library. This newsletter was the means used to keep members informed. Activity reports with photos were a feature. An extensive hard copy and disk copy of photos over the years is available at the library.
